BEHIND THE LENS
Eva Halina's life has been a study overcoming adversity.
Born in Warsaw, Poland, she grew up under the cloud of a repressive
Socialist regime. When she was five, she lost her father when he was struck
by lightning while working as a lifeguard. That same year she was selected
to begin training for the Polish gymnastics team. For the next ten years,
her life revolved around the state run program culminating in her being
selected for the National team for the Olympics. The best all-round gymnast
in Poland and favored to medal in the uneven bars, a devastating knee
injury ended her dream of Olympic glory.
During her lengthy recovery, the petite gymnast began to grow, reaching
her present 5'9" in record time. No longer able to put stress on her knee,
she took to the air. At the age of 17, Eva became a trapeze artist & toured
Eastern Europe with the Julinek Circus.
After a year on the road, she decided to give modeling a try. Her Miss
Photo Poland crown led to several Polish film appearances, including the
critically acclaimed "Siren". Europe beckoned and she travelled to Norway,
Germany, Italy and France, working for such publications as Vogue, Elle,
Esquire and Cosmopolitan. She began doing commercials in Europe and,
finally, she decided to give the states a shot. She arrived in Miami with
$100, limited English and an audition for a Coors Light commercial.
Naturally, she booked the spot and, for the next 5 years, she was seen
"tapping the Rockies". Other spots for Diet Coke, Pepsi, Levis and many
soon followed.
She continued modeling around the world but on-camera work was taking up
more and more of her time. She has appeared on Friends, The Pretender, VIP
and The Drew Carey Show, in addition to the starring role of Eva Kirov in
the action-adventure series The Dream Team. She currently stars in the
Polish reality show, Wives of Hollywood.
